Whoa... had a bit of a scare there. MSO is now hosted out of my apartment + ad-free. Luckily, not too much at all was lost... the backups actually worked! Let me know if any of the features don't behave right. —drew

About Makeshift
PLEASE READ OUR TERMS OF SERVICE AND PRIVACY POLICY

Makeshift is an online network application.
It is programmed by one guy.
This guy's name is Drew Lustro.

Introduction
Makeshift (or mso) allows you to have the same online network experience as other "competing" services run by million dollar companies such as MySpace, Livejournal, or Xanga. However, since it is programmed by myself and funded/maintained by youths, there is a distinct difference between the feel and usability (read: guess & check & sometimes don't check). Makeshift is not overrun with ads, it is not stricken with political correctness, or the desire to please everyone. The best way to find out what you can do on makeshift is to simply make an account. From my past experience, users think that mso has a sharp learning curve. However, about 20 minutes into getting their feet wet they realize its much simpler, cleaner, and addicting than other sites. Long live mso!

Creator
Makeshift began as a hobby project in my late high school years and returned in version 2.0 as I was getting far better at PHP. By today's standard's though, MSO's code is absurdly structured to the point of no return. If there ever was a version 3.0, it would have to be coded from the ground up. Given that, it has been worked on tirelessly throughout my early college years and stayed online now for over 4 years strong. I graduated from UC Berkeley w/ a degree in Computer Science, class of 2008 and currently work at ngmoco:) making games for the iPhone after my friend/roommate created a little game called Epic Pet Wars that blew up to 2 million users and some of the bigger fish in the game took notice :]. Thank you for taking part in my work.

Technical Information
Currently (November 2009), MSO is hosted out of Drew's apartment in San Francisco, CA (that's why all the times are PST). The machine is home built, runs a flavor of Debian on dual cores & 2GB of RAM. The machine also has an absurd amount of disk space (2TB), which holds most of my pirated (ahem), I mean backup media! Should the server ever go down, blame the apartment... but it'll be back online as soon as possible.
